Our Story
A family calling turned into a community mission.
Butler Outreach Initiative was born from a simple but sobering reality: across the DMV, families were showing up to life carrying silent burdens—empty pantries, worn-out clothing, and the daily stress of not having the basics.
Kevin and Barbara Butler saw it up close—neighbors stretching meals, parents choosing between toiletries and transportation, and people doing their best while falling behind. Over time, the conviction became unmistakable: faith isn’t only something we profess—it’s something we practice.
So they started small: purchasing groceries, packing essentials, and quietly sharing with those who needed it most.
Their children—Kevin, Keenan, and Kameron—joined in, learning that service is a family lifestyle, not a once-a-year event.
What began as a few bags and a few conversations grew into a consistent outreach—rooted in prayer, compassion, and action.
“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and He will reward them for what they have done.”
— Proverbs 19:17
Today, BOI continues the same mission: show up, meet needs, restore dignity, and point people to hope.
